Bernards Bay- William R. Gallaway, 76, of Scotch Circle, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse, after a brief illness.

Affectionately known as Bill. He was born in Rome, on April 17, 1949, a son of Clarence R. and Nellie May Williamson Gallaway. He grew up in Rome, later moving with his family to Canterbury Hill, Town of Floyd. In 1967, Bill graduated from Holland Patent Central School, earning a Regents Diploma. Thereafter for several years, Mr. Gallaway served his country in Germany and stateside the U.S. Army, during the Viet Nam era.

After his honorable discharge, from the U.S. Army, Bill returned to Floyd, where he lived for several years and was employed as an auto body repairman at Tony’s Body Shop, Rome. Later he lived in Taberg, before moving to his present home in Bernards Bay. For several years until his retirement, he was employed as an auto body and frame mechanic at Ten the Perfect Body Shop, Inc., West Monroe, NY.

Bill greatly enjoyed fishing and was a member of the Camden Bass Masters Fishing Club, placing in the upper levels in club tournaments. He participated in many Bass fishing tournaments across New York state. He also greatly enjoyed spending quality time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by two daughters, Dawn Gallaway and husband, Mark Hawkins, Lee Center and Kerry Gallaway, Buffalo, NY; grandchildren, Dawn’s daughter, Stacey May Smith, Kansas MO, Kerry’s children, Alexa Hollaway, and Luke Holloway, both of Texas; one brother and a sister in law, Warren (Ann) Gallaway, Clinton, NY and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Nellie Gallaway and by a brother, Ron.

Services will be private and there are no calling hours. Interment will be in the spring in Boonville Cemetery. His arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville.
