Virginia Frances Yeomans

Virginia Frances "Poo" Yeomans passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Waterville Residential Care Center, with loving family members at her side.

Virginia was born on February 28, 1963, to Jackson Earl and Florence "Fern" (Rivers) Yeomans, in Utica, NY. She was a graduate of Notre Dame High School and Utica College, where she earned a Master's Degree in Accounting. In addition to her career as a Certified Public Accountant she served as an Adjunct Professor at Utica School of Commerce, where she taught accounting. She had previously resided in Utica, NY and Dunnellon, FL but returned to Forestport, NY to spend her final years living peacefully at her childhood summer home and personal sanctuary, lovingly known as "Runamuck".

Her greatest joy and proudest achievement in life was her son, Joseph (Joe). She was a devoted mother who found immense pride and pleasure watching him navigate life with the humor, integrity, and compassion she instilled in him. Her legacy will live on through the wonderful man he has become. She was also an animal lover and advocate who never met a dog that she didn't love. Her commitment to animal welfare included volunteering at a no-kill animal shelter and as treasurer and board member of the Herkimer County Humane Society. Her wittiness, kindness, selflessness, optimism and friendship will never be forgotten.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving son, Joseph Yeomans-Mitchell (Utica, NY); her longtime partner, companion and caregiver, John Wentz (Forestport, NY); sisters Mary Nevins and husband Andrew (Henderson, NC) and Monica Yeomans (Rochester,NY); nephew Harland Nevins; her beloved cousin Linda Yeomans (Dunnellon, FL), with whom she shared a lifelong sisterly bond; several additional cousins who loved her dearly and with whom she shared countless childhood memories, and many dear friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Patrick's Church, 12000 River St, Forestport, NY 13338. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend calling hours at the church from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Interment will take place on June 27, 2026 in Beechwood Cemetery, Forestport, NY, followed by a Celebration of Life honoring our beloved Poo.
