Lee Center- Affectionately known as, “The Pooh” or “Pooh Bear,” 56, of Lee Center, passed away unexpectedly, on Monday, November 17, 2025.
Vicky was born on September 20, 1969, in Rome, NY, the daughter of Doris Scales (Rasha) and the late John (Jack) Scales. She was the youngest of her two siblings.
Vicky will be fondly remembered as being a very strong and independent person, whose life motto was, “I can do it myself!”
Vicky grew up near Lee Center, and began her education at West Leyden Elementary School, graduating from Adirondack High School, with the Class of 1987. In addition to her independence, Vicky will also be remembered as a very hard working person.
She enjoyed a brilliant career, working in the Medical Records offices at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Utica and at Rome Memorial Hospital, later retiring as manager of the Health Information Department at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Utica. Later she greatly enjoyed her employment, on a part time basis, for Big Lots Department Store, Rome. Most recently and at the present time, she was employed as a Direct Support Assistant, (DSA), at CNY DSO of Rome.
In 1994, she married, later in 1997, her marriage ended in a difficult divorce. From the union, she was blessed with two sons; Trevor and Tyler. The rest of her life revolved around the welfare of those boys and Vicky always worked at two jobs to provide the best for her sons.
Later, in 2013, Vicky moved to Lee Center, where she purchased her own home on Harris Road.
In 2015, Vicky reconnected with her junior prom date; Francis Come and they were engaged in 2017. This relationship grew over the years into a bond like no other. She also enjoyed a “best friendship,” with Jennifer and Bill Shades, who were always there for her throughout the ups and downs of her life. A favored saying of Vicki’s was always, “You’re the best Jen!”
Vicky loved family time and sitting out by her fire pit at home. She enjoyed camping back on Witzigman Lake, sitting by the fire with her friends, laughing, telling stories and tipping back a few! She always enjoyed her annual family trip to Brantingham Lake.
In 2022, Vicky faced every parents fear; the loss of a child. Her son trevor passed away on February 9, 2022, after a tough battle with addiction.
In addition to her mother, Doris Scales, Lee Center, she is survived by her fiancée, Francis Come; one son and daughter in law, Tyler and Nicole (Homan) Ammon, Lee Center; two sisters and brothers in law, JoAnn (Scales) and Jarret Hunt, Lee Center, Sharon (Scales) and Douglas Finster, Lee Center; three grandchildren, Connor, Natalie and Jace; nieces and nephews, Justin and Michelle Devoe, Amanda and Sasha Andric, Tess and Gere, Claire and Travis; great nieces and great nephews, Charlotte. Corbin, Khilee, Kilian and Thea; step children, Heather and Josh Come and the most recent addition; newborn. Teagen.
Vicky was predeceased by her father, Jack, in 1988, brother in law, Ted Duell, in 1996 and her son, Trevor, in 2022.
Her Funeral will be Friday, November 21, 2025, at 6:00 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where visitation hours are Friday, from 3-6 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Town of Lee. Memorial contributions may be made to lee Center Volunteer Fire Company, or to West Leyden Reformed Church, C/O 4546 Mud Lake Road, Wet Leyden, NY 13489.
