Russell A. Murphy

Utica- Russell A. Murphy, 68, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at his residence.

Russell was born in Lowville, on November 2, 1957, a son of Malcolm and Frances Miller Murphy. His father was a brick layer and mason, and Russell grew up in locations, according to his father’s location of his work. Later his family settled in Oriskany, where Russell graduated from Oriskany High School, with the Class of 1975.

He enjoyed a life interest in Horticulture and after completing high school, Russell attended and graduated from Cornell University, where he earned a bachelor's degree, with a major in Horticulture. Following he was employed in a wholesale plants and land scape company in New York City. He was also employed as a portrait photographer for colleges and schools across the country. His last employment was in patient care at the Eastern Star Home in Oriskany.

Russell is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Audrey (Jim) Mihalko, Boonville, NY and Robert (Wendy) Murphy, Alabama. He was predeceased by his parents; his father, Malcolm, mother, Frances, both in 2015.

Interment in Oriskany Cemetery, will be private. His arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. Boonville.
