Boonville – Robert J. Jones, a longtime resident of Belle Isles Place and more recently of the Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility, passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, April 11, at Albany Medical Center.
Robert John Jones was born on November 7, 1948, to Clarence and Veronica Crampton Jones in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania. The youngest of four sons, he was raised in South Trenton, New York, graduated from Holland Patent High School in 1966, and earned a degree in economics from Ithaca College. There, he met Patricia Runge, who became his wife; they were married on May 1, 1971, at St. Augustine’s Church in Ilion, New York.
Following graduation, Bob served in the United States Air Force, providing electronics support in Turkey during the Vietnam War. During his service, he earned a master’s degree from the University of Arkansas.
In 1978, Bob and Patricia settled in Boonville, New York, where he became an active member of the community. He held leadership roles with several organizations, including the Boonville Kiwanis, South Lewis Lions Club, and the Boonville Chamber of Commerce. A third degree Master Mason, he served for several years as Master of Boonville’s Uriel Masonic Lodge No. 165, F. & A.M., reflecting a strong commitment to service and civic involvement.
A devoted member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Bob lived his faith through humility, generosity, and service, forming close and lasting friendships within his church community.
Bob enjoyed singing and shared his talent with local groups, including the Adirondack Community Chorus and Voices of the River. He worked throughout his career in a variety of professional roles, including positions with Ethan Allen, MetLife, and Royal Insurance, and later as an independent financial planner.
Bob will be remembered for his kindness, compassion, and love for animals. His steady presence and thoughtfulness left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Lindsay Hausman (Andrew) of Trumansburg, New York, and Sydney Jones of Berne, New York; and his brother, Carlton Jones of Houston, Texas.
He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Jones, and his brothers, Richard N. Jones and Kenneth Jones.
Services will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026 at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville beginning at 3:00 pm, where members of the Boonville Uriel Lodge #165 will perform the Masonic funeral rite, followed by a memorial service with The Very Rev. Nick Smith officiating. Calling hours will precede the service beginning at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Adirondack Community Chorus, c/o Laura Czajka 8227 State Route 294, Boonville, New York 13309.
