Boonville – Richard E. Tanner, 54, of Ann Street, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 21, 2025.
Richard was born in Auburn, NY, a son of Edward and Pauline Babcock Tanner. He was raised on Oatman Road and attended Adirondack Central School, graduating from Stafford High School, Stafford Springs, CT. After completing his education he enlisted in the U.S. Army. Following his discharge from the armed services, Richard returned to Auburn, NY, where he was employed for O’Hara Machinery Co., as a parts deliveryman.
In 2017, Richard returned to Boonville, where he has since lived. For a time he was employed at Carquest, Boonville, where he was a sales associate and local parts deliveryman.
Richard enjoyed dirt car racing, both as a spectator and driver at Weedsport Speedway. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and NY Yankee’s.
He is survived by his sister, Paula McConnell, Boonville, nephews: Cory (Shayna) McConnell, Boonville, Brian (Destiny) McConnell, Turin, three great-nieces, and good friends: Janice (Duane) Roberts. He was predeceased by his father Edward on October 7, 2011, mother Pauline Smalldon on December 21, 2008, and by an infant brother Eddy.
In keeping with Richards wishes there will be no calling hours or services. A celebration of life is being planned and will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Boonville Fire Co. Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box #164, Boonville, NY 13309.
