Peter A. Yousey

Locust Grove- Peter A. Yousey, 86, of Rt. 12D, Town of Leyden, passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Wynn Hospital, Utica, NY.

Peter was born in Croghan, on September 6, 1939, a son of Peter B. and Gertrude Millard Yousey. He grew up in the near Croghan, on State Rt. 812 and received his education at a rural school. He was a lifelong logger and was employed for Getman Logging Co. of Turin, for over 40 years. He also enjoyed cutting and selling fire wood and looked forward to every spring when he made and sold maple syrup.

He was an avid gardener and enjoyed raising vegetables and strawberries and for many years he sold strawberries. Peter also was an avid weather watcher and he enjoyed stopping at north country diners. The highlight of each year was attending the New York State Woodsmen’s Field Days.

For many years Mr. Yousey attended Abundant Life Fellowship Church, Boonville. His faith never failed him.

Peter is survived by a daughter, Angela M. Yousey, Locust Grove, five grandchildren, Abigail, Carissa, Riley and twins, Ryder and Raelynn; four sisters, Lucille Getman, Phyllis Noftsier, Ruby Gibbs, and Janet (Barry) Lehman. He was predeceased by sisters, Ruthy and Edith and by a brother, Kenny and two brothers in law, George Getman and Alvin Noftsier.
