Forestport- Patricia A. Porter, 94, of North Lake Road, widow of Howard J., passed away peacefully at Wynn Hospital, Utica, after a brief illness.

Affectionately known as Pat, she was born to G. Harlow Watts and Helen (Willard) Watts, on April 24, 1932, in Deerfield, NY. Her early education was received in a one room school house in Deerfield, until age 12, at which time she attended Whitesboro Central School. When Patricia was 16, she moved with her family to Forestport and graduated from Forestport Central School, with the Class of 1950.

On August 5, 1950, Patricia was united in marriage with Howard J. Porter, of Forestport, at St. Patrick’s Church, Forestport. Afterwards the couple settled on the North Lake Road. For a time Patricia was employed as a clerk at Bonnie’s Country Store, Forestport. Mr. Porter, a veteran of WW II and retiree from Mele Manufacturing Co. Utica, passed away on September 22, 1989.

Patricia will be fondly remembered as a devoted and loving wife and mother to her nine children. The Christmas holidays were her favorite time of the year and she enjoyed shopping until she found the perfect gift for each person on her list. She decorated everything inside and outside of her home for the holidays. Patricia found great enjoyment from visiting consignment shops and estate sales, always finding unique items to add to her many collections; she was especially proud of her rooster collection.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, Forestport. Patricia possessed a “green thumb,” and was well known for her raising flowers, both annuals and perennials.

Pat is survived by her seven children, daughters, Valerie Marcelletta, White Lake, NY, Kimberly Iacoponi, Utica, NY; five sons, John H. (Tracy) Porter, Esq., Chimney Hill, CT, George H. Porter, Marcy, NY, Patrick H. (Shelly) Porter, Bainbridge, PA, Frederick H. (Kumiko) Porter, Aledo, TX and Michael H. Porter, Forestport, NY; 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and a daughter in law, Linda M. Porter, Carthage, NY and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her favorite feline companions, Jeter and Bear. In addition to her husband, Howard, she is predeceased by two sons, James H. Porter and William Porter, who died as a new born; a sister, Phyllis Rhinehart, a sister and brother in law, Henry and Erma Brant and by a sister in law, Marjorie Martin.

Her family gratefully acknowledges the kind and caring staff on floors 6 & 7 at Wynn Hospital, for their compassionate care, which they gave to Patricia.

Calling hours will be from 2-5 P.M., on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. A graveside service will be on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at Alder Creek Cemetery, where Rev. Thomas I. Ward, pastor of St. Patrick’s church, Forestport, will officiate. Pat possessed a lifelong love and affection for her feline friends and for her outdoor birds and ducks that she fed. Memorial contributions may be made to The Rome Humane Society, P.O. Box 4572, Rome, NY 13442.
