Nancy A. Nellenback

West Leyden and Liverpool, NY- Nancy A. Nellenback, 69, formerly of Mud Lake Road, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, while surrounded by the loving care of her family, at Lewis County Extended Care Facility, Lowville, after a long illness.

Nancy was born in Rome, on August 29, 1956, a daughter of James M. and Barbara Cutter Nellenback. She grew up at the Nellenback homestead, on the Mud Lake Road, near West Leyden and attended West Leyden Elementary School and graduated from Adirondack High School, Boonville, with the Class of 1975. Afterwards she continued her education at St. Elizabeth’s School of Nursing, Utica, where she earned a Registered Nurse Degree.

For thirty years, Nancy was employed as a Registered Nurse in the Pediatric department at Crouse Irving Memorial Hospital, Syracuse. The last ten years of her distinguished career in nursing were at Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, specializing in Pediatrics in the newly opened Golisano Unit Children’s Hospital at Upstate Medical Center. For many years while employed in Syracuse, Nancy resided in Liverpool.

She greatly enjoyed reading and traveling, including enjoying many cruises. Spending time with her nieces and nephews and family, was what gave Nancy the greatest joys in her life.

Nancy is survived by her siblings; James M. Nellenback, Jr. (Marianne), West Leyden, Sue A. Salmon (Danny), Lowville, Lori Martin, (Brian) Rome and many cherished nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Also surviving is an aunt, Carol Hartnett, Utica; special cousins, Joan Klingbail, (Ian) and Sally Ortlieb, (Steve). She was predeceased by her parents, James and Barbara and a brother, Peter Nellenback and by his wife, Billie Jo.

Her Funeral will be on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 12 Noon, at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, beginning with a ceremony by the Nurse Honor Guard of Lewis County, followed by services by Rev. Deacon James Chaufty, from the South Lewis Deanery of Catholic Churches, with interment to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery Prussian Settlement, Osceola Road, West Leyden, NY.
