Greig, NY

Greig, NY- Michele M. (Moskal) Gydesen, affectionately known as “Shelly” and husband of David V., passed away at her residence on Sunday September 21, 2025, while under the loving care of her husband and Hospice. Shelly became ill in July, 2025 and prior to returning to her home, she was a patient at Strong Memorial Hospital for forty two days.

I’m sitting here writing my wife’s obituary and thinking about the 26 years of marriage that we enjoyed together and the first thing that comes to me is the immense happiness that we gave each other! We were best friends.

I’ve never seen anybody workout like this girl. As soon as her feet hit the floor, she was moving until 6:00 P.M., every day, 7 days a week!

Shelly loved her pup’s, exercise, traveling and being outdoors. She even loved my dumb ass. Whenever there was a family gathering the first thing Shelly did was head to the frosting, for 66 years!

Shelly was a free spirit and did whatever made her happy, haha, not always.

The girl always had a smile on her face. Good time Shell. She put me in charge of fun things to do. If I was lagging behind of activities, she would let me know.

Where we settled down to live, was absolutely perfection for my girl, in the winter, because she loved to cross country ski. If the temp was in the twenties and the sky was blue, out the door she went. She skied 484 miles last season. In her early years, she was a sun worshiper and you couldn’t keep her out of the water.

Shelly enjoyed the outdoors, no matter what the season!

In addition to her husband, David, Shelly is survived by her siblings; Chet (Cheri) Moskal, Susanne (Bill) Cloute, Pete (Joanne) Moskal, Julie (John) Ashcroft, Mary (Frank) Cappelle; her soul sister, Cheri Moskal and best friend Robin Diebolb.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of her family. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, P.O. Box 266, Lowville, NY 13367.
