Boonville- Marshal L. Vaughn, 87, of Lovers Lane, went to be with the Lord, his Savior, suddenly, on May 18, 2026, while a resident in rehabilitation at the Grande, in Rome, following a fall in December, 2025.
Marshal was born on August 16, 1938, in the Town of Chateaugay, Franklin County, NY, a son of Leon G. and Luella Mae Starks Vaughn. He grew up in the area of Rome and Westernville, later moving to Boonville.
While a teenager he was employed operating a jackhammer during the resurfacing of Lake Delta Dam, before later employment as a baker in a Utica bakery. His last employment, for many years, was as a machine operator at Oneida Container Co., of Canastota, NY.
Several years ago, Mr. Vaughn began attending the Abundant Life Church, of Boonville, where he discovered a new and loving Christian family. Later he became a member of Abundant Life Church,, where he became a father figure to everyone and will be fondly remembered for his great sense of humor. He especially enjoyed “Donut Sunday,” and coffee time with visiting on Sunday mornings. Most importantly, Marshal loved God above all things and read his bible daily,, along with praying for so many people that were dear to him, especially for those in need. His prayers would often last for hours at a time.
In addition, Marshal loved the outdoors, playing the organ and singing songs, drawing and painting. He also enjoyed the many meals which friends brought to his home and never turned down a dessert. Many fond memories were made spending time with his brother Bruce, and sister-in-law Leona.
Marshal is survived by his family; daughters, Beverly Vaughn LaFramboise, Rebekka Vaughn, Carrie Vaughn and Christine Bienvenue; his siblings, Bruce (Leona) Vaughn, Karen (Herman) Striff, Grace (Victor) Carr, Dwayne (Wendy) Vaughn and Mark and Cathy Vaughn. He was predeceased by siblings; Richard, Donna Davis, Arlene Babcock, Barbara Rumbles, Leon, Jr. Truman, Gary and Lyddia Duffney. Marshal is also survived by his “adopted son,” Kevin Felshaw.
A special Thank you is extended to the staff at the Grande of Rome, for their compassionate care, during his time there. Also a special thank you to the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., for assisting with the arrangements for Marshal.
Services will be held in the future, at a date, time and place to be announced.
