Boonville- Marlene (Post) Doser, 89, of Thayer Hill Road, widow of Paul E., passed away at her residence, while surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, August 30, 2025.

Marlene was born in Port Leyden, on March 22, 1936, a daughter of Harry and Grace Gardner Post.  She grew up on Shibley Road, Town of Lyonsdale, and attended the Lyonsdale Rural School, before graduating from Port Leyden Central School. Later she took college courses.

She married John Vienneau; later the couple divorced.

For many years, Mrs. Doser was employed as a secretary at Forest Presbyterian Church, Lyons Falls, and then she was employed for several years as a secretary at the Howard G. Sackett B.O.C.E.S. Center, Glenfield.

On July 18, 1992, Marlene was married to Paul E. Doser, at Greystone Manor, Martinsburg. The couple settled at their home on Thayer Hill Road, near Boonville. Mr. Doser, was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a longtime employee of Special Metals of Utica and a skilled worker, passed away on February 10, 2013.

Mrs. Doser was a very active and longtime member of Forest Presbyterian Church. She became an Elder of the church and served on the Church Session. In addition to her position of Church Secretary, she served as assistant Treasurer, and Treasurer, was a member of the committees of the Presbytery of Utica and served as Secretary to the Stated Clerk of the Synod of the Northeast, with the Rev. James MacKellar. Marlene was also appointed as a delegate to the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1984. In addition to the mentioned church activities, Marlene was a person who loved music and was a longtime member of the church choir and while Church Secretary, she was the Editor of “The Forest Press,” the church newsletter. She was a former member of Dewey Chapter # 420, Order of the Eastern Star, (Port Leyden), State of New York, serving as Matron, Conductress, Associate Conductress and other offices.

Marlene and her late husband Paul, greatly enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the United States and they especially enjoyed going on an Alaskan cruise. She also enjoyed writing poems, loved playing cards, playing dice games, going to the casino, playing the piano and reading. She will also be fondly remembered for her enjoyment of watching Hallmark Christmas movies, year around!

Marlene is survived by her children; two daughters, Tamara L. (Dale) Austin, Lewiston, NY and Jolene (Mark) Higby, Constableville; three sons, Kevin (Jolanta) Vienneau, Carthage, Daniel (Jeanne) Vienneau, Penneville, NY and Johnathan and significant other, Heidi Barrett, Forestport; step son, Brian Doser and his significant other, Meg, Boston, MA; seventeen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren; one sister, Eve Breen, Lowville and beloved nieces and nephews. Marlene is also survived by her very special best friend, Margarita McNamara. She was predeceased by her parents and by seven siblings; Bernice, Donald, George, Harry, Audrey, Lansing and Irving.

Marlene’s Funeral will be on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Forest Presbyterian Church, Center St. Lyons Falls, with interment to follow in Boonville Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday from 4-7 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to Forest Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 326, 4019, Center St. Lyons Falls, NY 13368. Following her services, all are invited to attend a luncheon and further celebration of Marlene’s life, at Harland J. Hennessey Post V.F.W., Park Ave. Boonville, where contributions of food may be delivered on Wednesday, from 11:00 A.M. on.
