Boonville- Kenneth Leon Henry, 74, formerly of Schuyler St. Boonville and Osceola Road, West Leyden, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville.

Affectionately known as Kenny, he was born at his family residence on Schuyler St., on August 13, 1951, a son of Gordon L. and Christina M. “Teenie” Moonan Henry. Kenny grew up in Boonville, graduating from Adirondack Central School, with the Class of 1969. While in high school, he excelled at playing football, basketball and baseball. Later, he greatly enjoyed playing town team softball and on the McManus Hotel softball team, Lyons Falls. Following graduation from high school, Kenny furthered his education, attending Orange County Community College, Middletown, NY, where he earned an associate degree in Recreation and played college baseball.

After college, Mr. Henry served his country during the Vietnam War era, in the U.S. Army, entering at Syracuse, NY, on January 11, 1972, before completing basic training at Fort Dix, NJ. Afterwards, he served in the Military Police, at Rhein-Main Air Base, in Frankfurt, Germany, where he was honorably discharged on January 1, 1974, with the rank of SP4. He earned the National Defense Service Medal, The Army Commendation Medal and Expert Marksman. He transferred to service in the U.S. Army Reserves until his honorable discharge in 1977. After his military service, he was employed as a paper machine operator at Georgia Pacific Paper Company, Lyons Falls.

On May 27, 1972, Kenny was united in marriage with Carol L. Camien, in Elmont, NY. They had three daughters, later the marriage ended in divorce.

Kenny was raised in the Catholic faith; he later joined and attended the Hawkinsville Methodist Church. He was a past member of both the Charles J. Love Post American Legion, Boonville, and Boonville Council Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed a lifelong love of hunting and fishing and was a life member of the Kafalka Hunting Club of McKeever.

Kenny greatly loved his family and cherished time spent with his daughters and grandchildren. He is survived by three daughters, Colleen M. (Luke) Pritchard, Forestport, Angela J. (Michael) Moore, Boonville, and Christina E. Henry, Rome; eight grandchildren, Steven Scouten, Christopher Scouten, Sarah (Lucas) Kafka, Andrew Scouten, Jack Fynmore, Avery Fynmore, Reilly Moore and Aiden Palczynski; siblings, Deborah Barrett, Cobleskill, Daryl (Linda) Henry, Karen (Daryl) Zeigler, Lawrence (Fawn) Henry, and Dorothy (Richard) Sears, all of Boonville, John (Debora) Henry, Cobleskill. In addition to his parents, Kenny was predeceased by a sister, Dorae Henry, in 1969, a brother, Michael in 2013, and by a son-in-law, Peter Scouten, in 2011. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Michelle Henry, Boonville, aunts and uncles, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. At the present time Kenny was joyfully anticipating the birth of his first great grandchild.

Kenny’s family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks and great appreciation to the entire staff of Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for the kind and compassionate care which they gave to Kenny over the years. Kenny always considered the staff at Sunset to be an extension of his family.

A Prayer service will be on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 10:00 A.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St., Boonville, followed by an 11:00 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated by Rev. Thomas Ward, at St. Joseph’s Church, Charles St., Boonville. Internment with Military Honors from Charles J. Love Post American Legion, Harland J. Hennessey Post V.F.W. and the Tun Tavern Marine Corps League, will be in Boonville Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday, April 29, 2026, from 3-8 P.M. at the funeral home, where members of Charles J. Love Post American Legion will call in a group at 7:00 P.M.
