Rome- Karen (DeMink) LeVan passed away peacefully on May 28, 2026, in Rome, New York, surrounded by the love of her family. Karen was the wife of Jack LeVan and for many years the couple lived on Fish Creek Road and the Freeman Road, near West Leyden.
Karen grew up in Ontario, New York, and later made her home in the Tug Hill region of New York, where she and her husband, Jack, operated The Hideaway Restaurant and Bar for many years. Karen was known for her heart of gold and her willingness to do almost anything for those she loved. Her caring nature also led her to help care for many older members of the community, offering kindness, companionship, and support to those in need.
Karen is survived by her loving husband, Jack LeVan; her daughter, Lynn Meaney and son-in-law, Jack Meaney; her son, Greg LeVan and his longtime companion, Betsy Sippel; and her cherished grandchildren, Morgan Meaney and Devin Meaney.
She will be remembered always for her generosity, compassion, and the love she shared with family and friends.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no services or calling hours. Karen possessed a lifelong affection for animals; memorial contributions may be made to a humane society of your choice.
