Julian Charles Muha, 62, of Boonville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at the Abraham House in Utica, NY with his loving wife, Lisa, by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer. Julian was born in Constableville, NY on August 17, 1963, a beloved son of the late John S. and Phyllis A. (Ward) Muha.
Julian attended South Lewis Central High School, Turin, NY and graduated with the class of 1982. Julian worked as a Hydro Technician for 36 years, retiring from Enel North America in 2020. He was known for his incredible talent for repairing and rebuilding the turbines. So much so that Julian held a key leadership role in sharing his knowledge and skills with other hydro personnel throughout the company.
Julian had a love for hunting, fishing and shooting sporting clays. He met some of his dearest and closest friends that became like family at the Ilion Fish and Game Club where he would shoot sporting clays weekly. He always looked forward to his Saturdays “with the guys” doing what he loved to do! He was known for having one of the fastest trigger fingers around on the sporting clay field.
Julian will be remembered as a devoted husband, son, brother and friend. He had a heart of gold and was always willing to help anyone. He will be greatly missed by all those that were fortunate enough to know and love him. He was well known for his excellent fabrication skills and there was not anything he could not come up with a solution for and create in his machine shop.
Julian loved his dogs as if they were his kids to include Hoss, Bud, Tugger and the latest addition to the family, Huckleberry. He loved training “his boys” to be great rabbit hunters.
Julian is survived by his wife of 34 years, Lisa Marie (York). He married the love of his life on June 1, 1991 at St. Mary’s church in Constableville. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Judy York; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mike (Dynall) York and Scott (Bonita) York. And also by his nieces and nephews who he loved and cherished as if they were his own; Dyana (James) Manning, MJ and Jameson; Wyatt (Courtney) York, Weston and Wren; Lee York; Ashley York (Mike Youngs); Caroline York (Derek Shaw) and Emilia; and Chad Muha. He is predeceased by his parents and his siblings Paul, Nathan and Bertha Muha; and his father-in-law Duane York.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. David Barbie from Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, MA for the incredible care and compassion that he provided Julian and Lisa throughout the difficult years of his cancer journey. Dr. Barbie selected Julian to participate in the Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon held at Fenway Park to talk about his miraculous cancer story in August 2023 which raised over $4 million dollars. The interview can be seen at https://youtu.be/sqWUGgVpcKM.
