Port Leyden - Joan Bolich, 83, widow of Richard, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2025 while under the loving care of her family and Lewis County Hospice.
Joan was born on May 10, 1942 a daughter of Shirley and Ruth Miller Gleasman. She grew up in Boonville, graduating with the Boonville Central School, Class of 1960. Joan then worked for Jim Capron for four years as a painter for his cast iron piggy bank business. Joan was united in marriage with Richard Bolich on November 19, 1960 at the First Baptist Church, Boonville. The couple lived in Boonville for a short time before purchasing a home in Port Leyden.
Joan was then employed for 13 years at Lally’s Mfg. Co., Port Leyden. For several years Joan did secretarial work for her husband and son in their family business, Black River Truck and Tire, Port Leyden. Richard passed away on September 16, 2015. Joan very much enjoyed the cherished time spent with her family and grandchildren.
Joan is survived by a her children: Michelle (Mark) McIntyre, Joseph Bolich (Judith Johnson), and her son Bailey, Linda (James) Weiss, grandchildren: Nicole (Henry) Walseman, Ryan McIntyre (Kayla Perry), Amanda (Michael) Kogut, Cory (Kayla) Grenier, Dane (Jennifer) Grenier, Austin, Connor, and Olivia Weiss; great-grandchildren: Kinley and Camry McIntyre, Adalyn and Kaden Walseman, Daniel Grenier, Jamison Grenier, Lauren Kogut, Maya and Eli Perry, her sister Janet Rowlands, nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her brother Samuel Gleasman and her brother-in-law: William Rowlands.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of her family. Interment will be in Port Leyden Cemetery. Her arrangements have been entrusted to the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lewis County Humane Society, P.O.
