Helen T. Nutt

West Chazy, NY, formerly of Boonville- Helen (Thomas) Nutt, 89, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the Vale Haven Home, in Peru, NY, where she had resided since December, 2025. In 2020, Helen relocated from her long time home on Summit St. Boonville, to West Chazy, (Clinton County), where she had resided with her daughter Wendy N. Collier, until moving to the Vale Haven Home.

Helen was born in Gouverneur, NY, on November 30, 1936, a daughter of Herbert and Lillian Golden Thomas. While an infant, her family moved to Hayes Road, Boonville, where Helen grew up. She attended Boonville Central School, graduating with the Class of 1954. Soon afterwards, Helen began employment at SAMPO, Co., of Barneveld, manufacturer of fishing tackle, where she was a shipping clerk, retiring after fifty two years.

On July 23, 1960, Helen was united in marriage with Wendell R. Nutt, at the Boonville Methodist Church parsonage. Thereafter the couple settled on Summit St. Boonville. Mr. Nutt, who was a U.S. Navy Veteran, during the Korean Conflict and an auto mechanic at Lee Pontiac and Buick, Boonville and later employed for the Park Market, Boonville, passed away on November 24, 1970.

Helen’s life revolved around her daughter and later her grandchildren and great grandchildren. To say that Helen was a very loving mother, would be an understatement. After her daughter, Wendy, relocated to the Plattsburgh area, Wendy’s children and grandchildren, spent each summer in Boonville, staying with Helen, where they were well cared for by Helen and her siblings. For many years, Wendy brought her family to Boonville for each major holiday.

Helen will be fondly remembered for the lilacs and other flowers which graced her yard on Summit St. each year.

Helen is survived by one daughter, Wendy N. Collier, West Chazy, NY; two grandsons, Matthew Collier and his wife, Angie, Plattsburgh and Bradley Collier and his longtime girlfriend, Hilary Smart, both Plattsburgh; three great grandchildren, Aiden, Sawyer and Quinn and one sister, Mary (Allie) Livermore, Waterville, NY and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Lewis (Phil) Golden, Albert Thomas, Rose Hough and Elizabeth Betty Winters and two nieces and one nephew.

Her Funeral will be on Friday, September 25, 2026, at 12 Noon at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where Rev. Thomas Ward, pastor of St. Joseph’s Church, Boonville, will officiate. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Boonville.
