Dianna L. (Yager) Zeigler, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2026, surrounded by those who loved her.
Dianna was born on October 3, 1950, in Herkimer County, New York, the daughter of Marion Yager Oyer. She grew up in the Lyons Falls and Port Leyden area and graduated from South Lewis High School with the Class of 1969. While in High School, she earned her cosmetology license.
After high school, Dianna worked at the Steak House in Turin. Lally’s in Port Leyden, and later in the meat departments at Great American Grocery Store and Foodland. Her creativity and talent eventually led her to open her own beauty salon in her home. She also worked at Adirondack Central School, where she was a teacher’s aid, caring for and assisting children and students, until her retirement.
In 1972, Dianna met her future husband, Ron Zeigler. The two were married on August 16, 1975, at the United Methodist Church in Boonville and shared 51 wonderful years together.
Dianna was a woman who loved life and was always ready for an adventure. She especially loved traveling and going on cruises with her friends. She enjoyed playing cards, painting, quilting, and was a very talented cook. She was strong, independent, feisty, generous, and always willing to try something new. Dianna had an infectious laugh that could light up a room and bring a smile to everyone around her.
She had a special love for Christmas and all the traditions that came with it. Christmas was truly her favorite time of year, and she made sure everyone knew it. She loved watching Hallmark Christmas movies, making hundreds of delicious cookies to share, and looked forward to the holiday season every year. She decorated her house from top to bottom for Christmas, filling every room with decorations, lights, and the warmth and spirit of the holiday. She also took great care to handcraft beautiful Christmas cards each year, personally making and sending them to nearly 100 family members and friends. It was her way of letting the people she cared about know that she was thinking of them and wishing them a Merry Christmas. Christmas at Dianna's was an experience, and those memories will be cherished by her family for years to come.
Above all, Dianna loved her family, and she especially adored her grandchildren. She took great pride in each of them and treasured the time she spent with them. Her grandchildren brought her tremendous joy, and she loved watching them grow and being part of their lives. Her love for them was unmistakable and will remain one of the most lasting parts of her legacy.
Dianna was an active member of the Boonville Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, the Boonville Methodist Church, and the American Legion Love Post 406. She gave her time generously to her community and treasured the friendships she made throughout her life.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years, Ron Zeigler; her children, Rob Zeigler (Lisa) of Simpsonville, South Carolina, and Michelle (Eric) Zeigler of Boonville; her grandchildren, Kayleigh (Sam) Sullivan of Easley, South Carolina; Carsten Zeigler of Simpsonville, South Carolina; Jack, Avery, Kyler, and Bennett Fynmore, all of Boonville; and her great-granddaughter, Rose Sullivan.
Dianna was preceded in death by her son, Brian, who passed away in infancy, and by members of her family who were important throughout her life, including her grandmother, LuVern Yager, who raised Dianna and her brother William (Pete).
Dianna was strong and resilient. Throughout her life, she faced many significant challenges, yet time and time again she found the strength to overcome them. She never gave up, and her determination and resilience were an inspiration to the people who loved her. Her final fight was incredibly difficult, and this time, despite all of her strength, she could not overcome it. She fought as she always had, with courage and determination, and she can now finally rest in peace.
Dianna leaves behind a lifetime of memories filled with family, friendship, laughter, travel, adventure, Christmas traditions, and love. She will be remembered for her infectious laugh, her feisty spirit, her strength and resilience, her love of adventure, her generous heart, and most of all, the love she had for her family. She will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Boonville Ambulance Crews, the Visiting Nurses of Utica, the staff at Wynn Hospital, Mary and Claire Miller, and the many other friends and caregivers who supported Dianna and her family. An extraordinary and heartfelt thank you goes to Crystal and Buck Dauback for the incredible love, care, and support they gave to Dianna and her family. Their kindness, compassion, and unwavering presence meant more than words can express and will never be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heather Hutchinson Memorial Scholarship through Adirondack Central School, 110 Ford Street, Boonville, NY, or the Boonville Ambulance Company.
There will be no calling hours. A celebration of Dianna's life will be held on Sunday, August 23, at 1:00 at 3 Willows Event Center in Lyons Falls. Interment will be held privately in Boonville Cemetery.
