Rome- Bryan D. Smith, 78, a native and former resident of Rome, and more recently of Utica, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at the Lutheran Care Community, where he had resided since, 2023.
Bryan was born on September 2, 1947, a son of Donald and Eleanor Roser Smith. He grew up in Rome, and graduated from Rome Free Academy, with the Class of 1965. From 1967 until his honorable discharge in 1969, Mr. Smith served his country in the U.S. Army, in the Vietnam War. Thereafter for many years he was employed as a machine operator at Rome Cable Co, Rome, NY.
Bryan was an avid golfer in his free time. He was known to be a genuinely hospitable person and was loved for this way of life.
He is predeceased by a sister, Susan Harvey and a daughter, Sarah Smith.
Bryan is survived by two sons, Paul Smith (Heather Smith), and Gregory Smith (Brianna Smith); two daughters, Shannon Sigala, (Jose Sigala) and Pamela Smith. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Jillian and Kinsley Sigala; one brother, D. Jay Smith, (Jane Smith), as well as nieces and nephews, Corey Smith, Scott Smith, Katrina Smith and Julie Grishkin.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation hours on Saturday, February 14, 2026, from 4-6 P.M. at Dimbleby Funeral Home, Inc. 40 Main St. Whitesboro.
