Bryan Michael Postol II, 54, was called home to Heaven May 1st, 2025, at Upstate University Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family.
Bryan was born to Bryan and Wendy Postol July 10th, 1970. Paternal grandparents were Stanley and Lillian Postol. Maternal grandparents were Emerson and Iona Trussell. He grew up in Forestport, where he started his education at the Adirondack Forestport Elementary through the second grade before attending Marcy Pilgrim Academy, where he won awards for music and other competitions at the ACE Regional Conventions. He also competed at the International Student Conventions in Flagstaff AZ. As a child he was also active in the Remsen BB Gun Club, where he won awards for excellent shooting.
He attended the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Marcy NY with his family. A steadfast faith in God was an important element in Bryan’s life. The focus as a family was centered around God and a personal relationship with Him. Many times in conversation, he would testify to the goodness of God in his life. Bryan enjoyed attending youth camp when he was young and spending time at the family church camp as well. He had a beautiful voice and loved to sing Hymns and Gospel songs.
On May 7th 2011 he was united in marriage with Jill Mathews. Bryan has two wonderful children, Breyanna, 19, and Paxton, 12.
Bryan was truly one-of-a-kind. He had a natural talent for making friends everywhere he went, and an uncanny ability to touch people deeply, connecting to others through love, compassion, and laughter without judgment. He was the kind of guy who, when he saw someone who was broke down on the side of the road, would stop and do what he could to help. Bryan lit up the room when he walked in with his rollicking good nature, joking, dancing, and living life to its fullest. He loved the great outdoors and enjoyed it in several ways, including fishing, hiking, deer hunting, rabbit hunting, trail riding with his SxS, snowmobiling, camping, spending time with his family, and having a good time. Whatever Bryan did, he did with his whole heart. He loved God’s creation.
There are too many cherished memories to fit them all in, but highlights include hunting out of the Adirondack tent camp with his family and getting a nice buck, catching the biggest fish of the day while fishing Lake Ontario with his brother Dale and friend Brandon, many years on the road hauling campers with his crew of brothers, cousins, and friends, and when he was very young, playing in the creek, rolling down the sandpit hill, and riding bikes with his sister Connie on Meekerville Rd, where one time after Connie wiped out on her bike, he let her ride on the back of his all the way home and made siren noises the whole way to make her laugh.
Bryan is survived by his children, Breyanna and Paxton; wife Jill, parents Bryan and Wendy Postol; his 93-year-old grandmother Iona Trussell; siblings Connie Hallenbeck (Dennis), Andrea Musser (Justin), Stephen (Janna), and Dale; nieces Melissa Kulesa (Tyler) and Louisa Postol, nephews Doug Hallenbeck, Darryl and Logan Musser, great nieces Emerson and Raegan Kulesa, mother-in-law Nancy Mathews, brother-in-law Ryan Mathews, many aunts, uncles, and cousins, and numerous special friends that he considered family in all corners of the country.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, his father-in-law Gene Mathews, and his six-month older than him Aunt Robin Trussell Slawson.
Services will be Saturday May 24th at Redeeming Love Fellowship, 9011 NY-365, Stittville NY 13469. Doors will open at 10am with services to begin at 11am.
