Rachel Marie Backer

Ava- Rachel Marie Backer, 15, of East Ava Road, passed away after a short illness, at Rome Memorial Hospital, on Wednesday, February 24, 2016. Rachel was born on October 11, 2000, in Las Vegas, NV, a daughter of David J. and Michelle Benoit Backer and grew up in the Las Vegas area, where she attended school, before moving to Ava, in September, 2015. She was currently a ninth grade student at Adirondack High School, Boonville. Rachel loved music and could sing along to nearly any song on the radio. She had a natural gift of artistry and loved to paint fingernails in the most creative ways. She loved all sorts of animals and they all loved her right back. Above all she loved to make others laugh, which was easy for her because she had her own unique laugh that no one could resist but to laugh with her. She could smile through any occasion no matter what was going on around her. She was a rare gift of a person that was just too bright and too good for this world. In addition to her parents, Rachel is survived by one brother, Brandon D. Backer, Las Vegas, NV; her paternal grandparents, Warren and Marie Backer, Boonville; her maternal grandparents, Ronald and Christine Benoit, Salt Lake City, UT, and aunts, uncles and cousins and many friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation hours on Tuesday 4-8 p.m. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family at the funeral home, with interment in Ava Cemetery.
