John J Hrynuk

John J. Hrynuk, 75, of Osceola Road, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at The Heritage Home of Utica, where he had resided since 2010. He was born in Rome, on November 10, 1937, a son of Roman and Mary Hrynuk. He grew up in West Lee, on the Hrynuk Homestead Farm, later moving to the vicinity of West Leyden, where he graduated from West Leyden Central School, with the Class of 1955. From 1956, until his honorable discharge in 1960, Mr. Hrynuk served his country in the U.S. Navy. On October 29, 1960, in Rome, John was joined in marriage to Carol A. Boswell. In the later 60's and into the 1970's John was employed as a union carpenter in commercial construction in the Rome area. Later he was employed as an independent truck driver in concrete delivery and he also was an over the road truck driver for several other companies. He was last employed as a truck driver at the Rite Aid Distribution Center, Rome. After the Point Rock Hotel was destroyed in a fire, he purchased the site, and constructed the Point Rock Inn, which he operated for several years. Mr. Hrynuk was a member of Lee Legion Post 1794 of Lee Center. John is survived by three sons and two daughters in law, Thomas, Lee Center, Ronald and Susan, Ava, Michael and Lynne, Boonville; three grandchildren, John Thomas, Kaylee Marie and Connor Jacob, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Mary, Marion and Anna. Services will be Thursday at 10:00 A.M. at Carmichael Hill Cemetery, Town of Western. Calling hours are Wednesday 4-8 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville.
