Elizabeth G. Wielechowski

August 10, 1930 — April 13, 2022

Port Leyden- Elizabeth "Betty" Wielechowski, 91, of Moose River Road, widow of Walter J. and a former resident of State Rt. 26, Constableville, passed away on April 13, 2022 at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, surrounded by her loving family, where she had resided since December, 2021. Affectionately known as Betty, she was born in Bloomingdale, New Jersey, on August 10, 1930, a daughter of Edward and Elizabeth (Konkoy) Gunderman. Betty graduated from Franklin High School, Franklin, New Jersey, with the class of 1948. Afterwards, while residing in New Jersey, Betty was employed for New Jersey Senator Alfred B. Littell, at his Liquid Petroleum business, in Franklin, N.J. and helped manage the family dairy farm on Cork Hill Road. On August 17, 1952, Betty was united in marriage with Walter J. Wielechowski, at St. Thomas of Aquinas Catholic Church of Ogdensburg, New Jersey. Afterwards the couple settled on her husband's dairy farm at Franklin, N.J., which they operated, until 1974, when Betty and Walter moved to Constableville, settling on the former Constable Farm on State Rt. 26. Walter, Betty along with their family operated this farm until 1978. Walter passed away on July 9, 1976. In 1978, Betty moved to Moose River Road, Port Leyden, where she resided. She was employed as a secretary and receptionist for Sunset Nursing Home, Boonville until she retired in 1995. Betty was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church, Port Leyden, where she participated in decorating the altar with flowers for many years. She was a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Constableville and a patron of the Port Leyden Library. Betty is survived by three daughters; Deborah W. (Joseph) Earl, Constableville, Janet Akin, Seneca Castle, NY, Nancy(Albert) Loomis, Boonville; three sons; Richard (Claudette) Wielechowski Nebraska City, NE, David (Michaelle) Wielechowski, Constableville, NY and Walter Jr. (Nancy) Wielechowski, North Myrtle Beach, SC; sixteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren plus many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two grandchildren, Kristen Elizabeth Akin and Sarah Elizabeth Wielechowski, one son-in-law Lloyd Akin, a brother, Thomas Gunderman, and two sisters, Doris Runion and Joyce Ann Worth of New Jersey plus brother-in-law, Robert Runion. Surviving siblings are two brothers Robert and Edward Gunderman and brother-in-law, Robert Worth in New Jersey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at St. Martin's Church, Port Leyden, where Rev. Lawrence Marullo, pastor will officiate and where her family will greet those attending at the conclusion of the Mass. Interment will follow in the spring at St. Michael's Cemetery, Mohawk Hill. There are no public calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Port Leyden Library. Her arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville.
